The cupcakes came out all right, I think. I never baked anything like that before, and it was lots of fun. Yay!

01. Call doctor for appointment.

02. Remember to pick up meds.

03. Take pictures of baby birds in nest on stairs.

04. Bake cupcakes.
04a. Remember to take pictures if cupcakes end up looking nice.

05. Type up thingie.
05a. Send off thingie.

06. Watch some movie(s) in English so my pronunciation/hearing comprehension will get a little bettah. (Was thinking Emma and/or Sense and Sensibility, and/or Silent Hill.)

#03 is difficult, 'cause they're (naturally) three shy lil' buggers; #06 is 'cause I have a job interview tomorrow and do so need to sound like I know how to interact with polite society non-Italian speakers, OMG. Also polite society, but let us take one step at a time.

I just baked a cake after years, and my very first chocolate cake ever, at that. I believe it's called a 'Deep Dark Chocolate Truffle Cake'... which of course tells you lots about me (recipe found here).

If it comes out right, pictures and squeeing will follow. :)

If not, we shall never speak of this again. :(

I just realised that, between one thing and the other, it's been nearly twenty days since I've done any shopping at all. Like, not even a book! A DVD! A T-shirt! A packet of chips! That's got to be a personal record, and I vow to remedy as soon as I can.

And for my next trick, I shall find a job which has nice hours, nice co-workers, is well paid and doesn't require me to spend three hours each day stuck on public transport feeling like I'm going to scream every minute of it.

No, seriously: you are.

I was halfway through a longish entry about how I sort of made my peace with how bad I am at keeping up with LJ, and while this doesn't excuse the constant disappearing, I basically have had my lurking mode stuck on 'on' for ages now--and then realised, well, you sort of know all that already, because I keep posting that post over and over, whenever I dust off this old journal.

Wot I'm drinking at my desk, because a) bosses have buggered off to tropical islands or wherever they usually go for the holidays, and b) Milan this time of the year is like the Sahara anyway (minus the camels. And the sandy dunes. And... oh, you know what I mean. Right? O_o)

I'll be leaving for a week myself, starting on Sunday (will be at formagic's summer house on the Lake Maggiore) and it won't be too soon, omg, not one day too soon.

Behind cut, a picture of my friend's doggie: I'll get to play with him and look after him and generally cuddle him! Yay! ^_^
